Schneider Optical Machines is the global leader in optical lens manufacturing, utilizing modern technologies and machinery.  Having designed the first MES and CMMS systems for the optical industry, we seek an entrepreneurial minded, self-starting MES specialist to be responsible for the ongoing development of the system and its implementation at customers in North America.

Working together with developers at our German HQ, the individual is responsible for the MES product, from initial demonstration to implementation, training and continuous improvement among our customers.  In addition to the overall industry specific MES system, Schneider has the industry’s only proprietary CMMS maintenance system for optical laboratories.  The combination of these proprietary, data driven analytical tools provides the finest modern optical lens manufacturing capabilities ever available.

Primary responsibilities

  • Convincing project demonstration of overall system to potential customers
  • Expert implementation of systems - including training remotely or on-site
  • Ongoing design recommendations, improvements, and continuous development of the system utilizing the software team at our German HQ
  • Understanding/demonstrating/training customers’ needs and the key metrics from the MES/CMMS system data. How to get the most from the system. Passionately provide the value proposition.
  • Work closely with users to define their needs and design solutions that add value


  • Previous verifiable experience with MES systems in automated manufacturing environments.
  • Strength in visualizing complete projects from concept to reality
  • Team player who participates well with project teams
  • Proficient in common software packages
  • Excellent communicator and trainer with all levels of personnel
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Machinery and interface troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • General computer networking knowledge required
  • Familiarity with IT concepts, methodology and vocabulary
  • Knowledge of cloud software development technology and modern practices
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, or Computer Science


  • Working knowledge of MS SQL Server and database management
  • Intermediate troubleshooting of Microsoft Server platforms using remote desktop protocol.
  • Ability to rationalize design decisions in a clear and objective manner, and challenge engineering teams to produce their best work
  • Able to create, perform, and maintain effective training materials for customer and users
  • This position is NOT a software development position and does not require coding skills.
  • Ability to effectively work independently based on guidance provided by others
  • Must be able to walk, climb stairs and ladders, lift, stoop, squat, kneel and have full normal range of motion and dexterity in order to perform all mechanical task related to the service and installation of machinery from above, beside and below and in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to hear audible defects and abnormalities in machine performance.
  • German speaking a PLUS
